Today's blog is for those that experience morning terrors

I don’t think I would have believed they existed had I not gone through it.  I remember it well that period of my life where I experienced what I call ‘morning terrors’.  Extreme anxiety upon waking.

It was a during a professionally stressful time in my life some 15yrs ago.  I remember feeling fearful about a certain situation; particularly about the financial consequences involved.  I would manage my emotions through the day but BAM! as soon as I woke – there it was… all of the overwhelm, fear & anxiety hitting me at once as if it had been waiting for the alarm to go off.
I was frozen.  I remember feeling so bad I could hardly move; with multiple symptoms going on all at once:
  • A mind screaming every possible ‘what-if?’ scenario spiralling me down into ‘I’m gonna die’’.
  • Off the scale levels of physical fear running through my body.
  • Sickening feelings of guilt for the consequences to those who relied on me.
  • My heart beating so fast I thought it would pound it’s way out of my chest.
  • Super-fast breath; hyperventilation mixed up with no breath at all.
  • Cold clammy skin all over my body whilst being weirdly sweaty.
  • The feeling of just wanting to crawl under a stone & die.

They say your first thoughts set you up for your day so it didn’t bode well.  But over the years I’ve come to see that I wasn't on my own.  Many many people suffer like this.  They spend their days diligently trying to keep it all together and then while they sleep their minds collapse in relief into their perceived realities.  Some of those perceived realities may well be real concerns.  Some of them a figment of subconscious imagination.  It doesn’t matter which; the result is the same:  Sheer terror morning after morning until we seek to take control.

But there is hope.  There is absolutely a solution.  We know anxiety to be fear of the future.  It’s just the mind fast-forwarding it’s perception of what might happen.  But it hasn’t happened yet; there is still time to grab a hold of this debilitating fear and vanquish it into the ether.  And there is still time to peacefully construct a plan of action & take back control.

Yes really!  And it's so easy we might call it ironic - because we have seen that most who experience morning terrors do not know how to be rid of them.  The perception is it is too hard or near impossible.
So if you are someone who has experienced or is experiencing morning terrors; sit back, and prepare to be amazed at how easy it is to be free!

It’s best to practice ready to nip your morning terrors in the bud so here we go:
Take a moment to make yourself comfortable – wherever you are sitting is good.  Then:

  1. Take a nice big deep breath in through the nose; in & out for the slow count of 3 is a good gauge.
  2. As you exhale out through the mouth - drop your shoulders & feel every muscle in your body relax.
  3. Keep your breathing going & focus your mind on your heart.  You might place one hand on your heart while you do this to begin with.  This automatically brings your racing mind in line with the beautiful beat of your heart.
  4. Pop the happiest thought you know into your mind!  This starts the production of healing hormones.
  5. Sit down calmly and make a plan to fix the thing that’s stressing you.
If you need help with your plan we're here for you.  And oh!  Did I mention step 6? ..Read our short free e-book 'Magical Electrical You!'
